Alberto De Simoni, Ph.D., is Teaching Assistant Professor of Classics at North Carolina State University. He researches ancient incarceration and has been involved in prison education efforts and ministry since 2018.

Justin and Lucia O'Connor
Lucia and Justin met on a CLU equipe (a retreat for CLU leaders) in 2010 and married in 2015. Lucia is a former special educator who now stays home with their four children. Justin is an insurance claims supervisor and formerly taught high school literature and history. They share a love for education, Giussani, and beauty in its many forms, especially good stories, good company, and good food. Lucia and Justin reside with their family in Pittsburgh, PA.

Ted Panken is an American jazz journalist based in New York City. He has written for publications including DownBeat, Jazziz, and Jazz Times, the New York Daily News and jazz.com. From 1985 to 2008, he was a jazz radio DJ at Columbia University’s WKCRstation. He has written more than 500 liner notes.

Jackie is a wife, mother, and advocate for compassion and solidarity. Her career with AVSI began in 2004 as a special advisor to the AVSI Foundation’s first large project funded by USAID. Based in Washington, DC, she is currently Executive Director of AVSI-USA, and at the same time holds the title of Deputy Secretary General for US Government Relations of AVSI Foundation, present in 42 countries around the world. At AVSI-USA, Jackie leads a team that is passionate about helping local, community-based partners around the world to grow and strengthen their own capacity to respond to needs directly where they are with a strong base of funders and partners.
