Suzanne Lewis - Founder & Director Emeritus

Suzanne founded Revolution of Tenderness in 2016, after reading the following from Pope Francis’ Evangelii Gaudium: “True faith in the incarnate Son of God is inseparable from self-giving, from membership in the community, from service, from reconciliation with others. The Son of God, by becoming flesh, summoned us to the revolution of tenderness.” She joyfully lived this truth, bringing the revolution to everyone she met. She was always ready and eager to meet new people, inviting them with loving arms into this community.

Suzanne passed away on December 22, 2025.

Caroline Doyle - Board Member

Caroline Doyle, PhD, is a clinical psychologist who currently resides in Chicago, IL, where she works at an area hospital. Caroline’s desire to contribute to the mission of the Revolution of Tenderness is rooted in her experience of friendship, unity, and belongingness that she discovered at its physical manifestation: The Studio. As a board member, she looks forward to contributing the the Revolution through hands-on and remote volunteering, event planning and consultation, and praying her presence can bring about a revolution of tenderness wherever she goes.

In order to help the Revolution on the ground to more fully embody its mission of radical, inclusive and relational love, she works to increase programming accessibility for those with disabilities or atypical needs.

Elizabeth Manion - Board Member

Elizabeth Manion is a lifelong Catholic and, for the past twenty years, a daughter in the ecclesial movement of the Church, Communion and Liberation. She is the mother of six adult children and five babies in heaven, and a grandmother to six grandchildren and six grandbabies in heaven. For the last forty-five years, Elizabeth has worked as a pediatric and labor and delivery nurse, primarily in intensive care units and with children who suffer from extreme forms of neurological trauma. She now supervises nurses in New York City who work in public schools with children, including those with special needs. Nearly five years ago, she married a New Yorker who is a secular Jew and her greatest cheerleader in all areas of her life, including her spiritual life.

Elizabeth has been educated into a profoundly beautiful view of herself, others, and the world, a vision encapsulated by the Revolution of Tenderness, a formation that is ongoing. Over time, she has come to more clearly perceive the deep wound in need of healing within individuals and within the culture, especially in relationships with others, whether strangers or those closest to us. She would love to continue serving on the board, first through prayer and sacrifice, and then in whatever ways may be of service. She has a lifelong love for the arts and for what can unfold in the human heart through engagement with them, both as an observer and a participant. She is especially interested in helping with the education to beauty for children, which she understands to be a true form of education. Although she lives in New York, Elizabeth hopes to find a way to visit at least every two months to offer hands-on labor and service, including art initiatives, beginning with a calligraphy project for children.

Dr. Joseph Friona Ed.D has worked in numerous educational administration and teaching positions over the past 25 years. His main role on the board is to aid in board training and governance policy, procedure, and documentation.
