The Revolution Continues

Suzanne Lewis, Founder & Director Emeritus

April 9, 1966 – December 22, 2025

We miss you, dear friend.

Dear Friends and Community,

It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the passing of our founder, Suzanne. More than a founder, Suzanne was our friend. Like her tapestries, she wove us into a community of people who have all personally experienced this Revolution of Tenderness through her. In the wake of this tragedy, we have realized that Suzanne did not simply leave us with a nonprofit, but with one another. This unity we have experienced is not something we can keep to ourselves. And so together, we are committed to carrying on Suzanne’s Revolution of Tenderness.

Suzanne’s generosity of time, talent, and love played a significant role in sustaining The Studio and the Revolution of Tenderness. Continuing this work now depends on community support more than ever. We need volunteers, donors, and collaborators: builders, thinkers, teachers, artists, poets, musicians, scientists, students, bakers, and all lovers of life, unity, and friendship. Please take the time to consider how you would like to support us, either with time, talent, or with a donation as we start this new chapter at The Studio and Revolution of Tenderness.

We would like to share some of the immediate steps we are taking to move forward:

The Board has appointed Mikey Fleming, Vice President of The Studio, and Rebekah Feeley, Head of the Board, to work together as Interim Co-Directors of The Studio. They will be supported by Joseph Antoniello, Director of Development, who will be focusing on sustainability, fundraising, and strengthening the resources needed to support our mission. The other members of the board were hand-picked by Suzanne: Heather Brown, Caroline Doyle, Sarah Duffy, Helen Freiling,  Joseph Friona, Elizabeth Manion and Lucia O’Connor. The Board will work closely with Mikey, Rebekah, and Joseph to support the necessary transition logistics, collaborating thoughtfully on future projects, events, and offerings. Together, we will ensure every work is rooted in the Revolution’s mission of promoting collaboration, friendship, and dialogue among peoples. You can read more about the board members here.

The road ahead will require collective effort.  As we continue to weave the tapestry Suzanne began, we ask that you journey with us. Whether through volunteering, spreading the word, or simply continuing to belong to this community, every act of support matters.

Please consider giving to the Revolution in her memory, and consider a monthly donation, even if you have only a little to give.

Thank you for walking with us through this moment of loss, remembrance, and renewal. We hope that our “yes” to this next chapter allows us to enter even more deeply into the love, friendship, and unity that Suzanne allowed to flourish among us. We are grateful for you, and invite you to be part of what comes next.

With gratitude,
The Board of Directors
